HIS TREASURE

A bride in awe of grace...

He did not give you to a queen
of land so vast and grand,
Nor to a princess even her
and by her side to stand.

He did not lure your heart
to be by a duchess' side,
Nor to a baroness-to-be
with you her lifelong guide.

But in his wisdom did he entrust
to here his treasury
The most unworthiest of women—
he gave your heart to me.

Not gold or silver could I give
which a prince doth so deserve,
But only love and working hands
with which you I would serve.

What glance do I deserve from such
a noble man of God?
What merit I that from across
the room from me you nod?

What grace hath God rewarded me
with every look you give;
For in your eyes, forever, love,
I beg you let me live.
